Look for the Yellow Caps

If you take care of your new Subaru model, you can be sure it will take care of you. Perhaps the most important thing you can do to increase your vehicles longevity is to keep an eye on its key fluids. Doing so is easy, simply lift the hook and look for those yellow caps. For information on checking the various fluids that support your Subaru's various systems, take a look at the helpful videos below. And for more detailed instructions, be sure to consult your owner's manual.

Engine Oil is Your Subaru's Life Blood

The most critical of all fluids is the engine oil. Oil keeps your engine clean and running smoothly. It reduces friction wear on crucial engine parts and absorbs harmful engine particles. Over time, microscopic debris can enter the oil, so if the oil is not changed regularly the engine can be severely affected. Increased friction shortens a vehicles life expectancy, and reduces fuel efficiency. Furthermore, dirty oil results in dirty exhaust which is bad for the environment. For these reasons it's important to keep to the manufacturers suggest oil-change schedule.

Between oil changes, be sure to check the oil level regularly, and top it off it is low. Checking fluids is not only easy, it's critical to getting the most time and enjoyment out of your vehicle. For more information about your specific models oil change intervals, oil type, and oil viscosity, check out the following list to find you.

Subaru Engine Oil Type & Interval Chart

Between oil changes, Subaru recommends that you check the oil level on your dipstick at every other fuel stop. Depending on your driving style and other conditions, your engine may consume oil more frequently than the recommended oil change intervals. So check the level and top it off if it’s low. It’s good practice to check vehicle fluids to help ensure your Subaru performs safely. It’s easy and anyone can do it. View the videos above to see how you can check your vehicle’s fluid levels.
