History of Belmont
Belmont nestles in as a suburb of Boston, with its founding date hailing from March 10, 1849. Belmont began as an agrarian town, helping to grow crops to feed much of the livestock in the greater Boston area. Eventually, with its close proximity to Boston and the introduction of improved roads and trolleys, Belmont began to see a large increase in population. This increase brought with it new buildings along with some fresh economic growth. Belmont became a hotbed of commercial greenhouses, providing the greater Boston area with vegetables and flowers.
