The 2027 Subaru Crosstrek is a lineup update, with no full redesign. The gas-only Sport is gone; a Sport Hybrid takes its place, and the paint palette has changed. If you're comparing trims around Natick, Wellesley, or Brookline, this guide covers the 2027 Subaru Crosstrek updates that matter most. You can check our current inventory at any time.

What's New for the 2027 Subaru Crosstrek: Key Updates at a Glance

Subaru's 2027 lineup has six trims: Base, Premium, Sport Hybrid, Limited, Limited Hybrid, and Wilderness. Here is what changed and what carries over.

  • The gas-only Sport is discontinued, and Sport is hybrid-only for 2027.

  • Tidepool Teal Pearl replaces Alpine Green.

  • The Limited Hybrid now has a standard power moonroof.

  • Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive (AWD) is standard on every trim.

  • EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology is standard on every trim.

Plenty of this isn't new. The 2.5L gas engine and the hybrid powertrain are strengths, as are standard AWD and EyeSight, but they didn't all debut this model year. The 2027 Crosstrek and Crosstrek Hybrid are here now, so browse our inventory to find yours.

Sport Goes Hybrid-Only: The Sport Hybrid Replaces the Gas Sport

The gas-only Sport is discontinued for 2027, which makes the Sport Hybrid the only way to get Sport styling. It pairs the 194-hp hybrid powertrain with sport cloth seating and hybrid-exclusive 18-inch wheels, so it's a different vehicle from the gas model it replaces. Both hybrids keep standard Symmetrical AWD and never need plugging in.

194-HP Hybrid Power and Fuel Efficiency for Route 9 and I-90 Commutes

The 2027 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid uses a 2.5-liter SUBARU BOXER® engine with electric motors in a series-parallel hybrid. Combined output is 194 hp. The EPA estimates 36 mpg city, 36 highway, and 36 combined, with a range of 598 miles on a tank.

Those numbers suit a mix of driving: stop-and-go on Route 9, an I-90 highway run, or a weekend trip within an hour's drive. Your results will vary with conditions, so treat the EPA numbers as a comparison tool.

Sport Hybrid vs. Limited Hybrid: Features and Feel

The Sport Hybrid leans sporty, with Sport Cloth upholstery and yellow stitching, a 10-way power driver's seat with 2-way lumbar, a power moonroof, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob. It also includes blind-spot detection with rear cross-traffic alert, an All-Weather Package, a wireless smartphone charger, and a retractable cargo cover.

Step up to the Limited Hybrid and things get more upscale. Perforated gray StarTex® upholstery with orange stitching comes standard, along with 10-speaker Harman Kardon® audio and its 432-watt-equivalent amplifier, a heated steering wheel, Rear Automatic Braking, and DriverFocus®. Exclusive 18-inch alloy wheels with a dark gray machine finish round it out, and the power moonroof is now standard.

Expanded 2.5L Engine Power and Standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive

Every gas trim, from Base to Wilderness, uses the uprated 2.5L BOXER engine making 180 hp and 178 lb-ft of torque, which became standard across the lineup last year. Every version pairs a Lineartronic® CVT with Symmetrical AWD.

Gas fuel economy is up to 26 mpg city, 33 highway, and 29 combined. Combined output for the hybrids is 194 hp.

Standard AWD matters in New England weather, where rain and snow arrive without much warning. Non-Wilderness trims offer 8.7 inches of ground clearance, and a good set of winter tires makes the most of it.

New Colors: Tidepool Teal Pearl, Daybreak Blue Pearl, and More

The 2027 Subaru Crosstrek colors include several changes. Tidepool Teal Pearl is new and replaces Alpine Green, and Daybreak Blue Pearl joins the gas lineup. Sapphire Blue Pearl is now exclusive to hybrid models, alongside the hybrid-only Sand Dune Pearl and Citron Yellow Pearl. On the Limited Hybrid, Ignition Red replaces Pure Red and Lithium Red Pearl.

Some colors are limited to certain trims, so browse our inventory to see which shades are on the lot now.

Color tip: Pearl finishes tend to shift with the light. In flat, gray New England daylight they look deeper and calmer, while bright sun brings out more shimmer.

Technology and Safety: 11.6-Inch Touchscreen and Standard EyeSight® Safety Tech

Only some Crosstrek trims get the 11.6-inch screen. Base has a dual 7.0-inch Multimedia System with wired Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ and 4 speakers. Premium and higher trims step up to the larger display.

Infotainment and Connectivity on Upper Trims

Gas Premium, Limited, and Wilderness get the 11.6-inch Subaru Multimedia Plus System with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and 6 speakers. A 10-speaker Harman Kardon audio system is available on Limited and Wilderness.

The hybrids go further. Sport Hybrid and Limited Hybrid pair the 11.6-inch Multimedia Plus with Navigation and a 12.3-inch digital display cluster. That difference is worth seeing in person if cabin tech drives your decision.

EyeSight Driver-Assist Features for I-95 Traffic

EyeSight is standard on all trims. It includes pre-collision braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, and adaptive cruise with lane centering, which eases long, congested stretches of I-95. Every trim also includes Emergency Stop Assist, Lead Vehicle Start Alert, sway warning, follow-distance warning, throttle management, and a rear-vision camera.

Other assists vary by trim. On Premium, blind-spot monitoring, lane-change assist, rear cross-traffic alert, Automatic Emergency Steering, and Emergency Lane Keep Assist are optional. They are standard on gas Limited, Wilderness, and both hybrids. Automatic Emergency Steering can help prevent forward crashes at speeds under 50 mph. Rear Automatic Braking is standard on gas Limited, Wilderness, and Limited Hybrid, and DriverFocus® is standard on gas Limited and Limited Hybrid.

Crosstrek Wilderness: Trail-Ready with 9.3 Inches of Ground Clearance

The 2027 Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness offers 9.3 inches of ground clearance, versus 8.7 inches on every other trim. The lift is only part of it. Subaru adds taller suspension components, front underbody protection, Wilderness-exclusive 17-inch matte-black wheels, and all-terrain Yokohama GEOLANDAR® tires. Maximum towing is 3,500 lb.

The approach angle is 20.0 degrees, the departure angle is 33.0, and the breakover angle is 21.1. Outside, you'll see anodized copper-finish accents, exclusive bumpers, wheel-arch cladding, and a matte-black hood decal. Inside are StarTex® upholstery with embossed Wilderness headrests, copper stitching, and a leather-wrapped heated steering wheel.

The 2027 Wilderness runs on gas only. Fuel economy is 24 mpg city, 29 highway, and 26 combined. It suits trips toward the White Mountains or Cape Cod better than most crossovers.
